Walking
In addition to the Cotswold Way, which runs directly past the cottage, there are a number of circular walks that leave straight from Washbrook or a short distance away. The type and difficulty of the walk can varied to suit the participant whether it is a simple stroll along the Cotswold Way up to the Pub in Painswick or a longer trek to take in some of the views across the Severn Valley and beyond.
We have provided a number of maps and walking literature in the cottage and are always happy to add more detail on our favourites if needed.
Cycling
We have secure storage for up to 6 bikes at the cottage and if you do bring them along can provide detail on the routes out of Washbrook that are suitable for road or Mountain bikes.
Standish Woods is just a couple of miles away and has plenty of free parking and a dedicated mountain biking trail.
The Forest of Dean is quite literally the mountain bikers dream. Located just 25miles away it has tracks for all levels including a family trail as well as 3 downhill routes for those that remembered their body armour. There is a bike hire shop at the cycle centre.
Golf
Painswick Golf Club is just a stones throw away and is a unique ridge top course with a number of the holes teeing off from the top of the Painswick Beacon Iron age fort.
Minchinhampton Golf Club another wonderful course just a 10 minute drive away with wonderful views over the five valleys.
Canoeing in the Wye Valley
Spend either a half or full day paddling down the Wye Valley. Plenty of time is given to do the mileage so you can make it a work out or a relaxing drift down the river (with a stop at one of the river side pubs!). We would recommend Ross-on-Wye Canoe Hire.
Hot Air Ballooning
A bit more adventurous but hey, you only live once! Give Ballooning in the Cotswolds a shout for a unique view of the surrounding countryside.
